dBMeter Pro app for iPhone and iPad

I need to be able to get approximate noise measurements as part of may work as a safety engineer. This application allows me to carry a noise meter with me everywhere I go and get a pretty good idea of how noisy any given environment is. Once I start to see levels over 80 dB, I know its time to pull out my calibrated professional meter to get the "real" data. The recording feature is great too. Being able to take some data samples and email it to myself is very useful. The reference screen is really helpful when Im trying to get people to understand the degree of noise hazard they are exposed to. My only complaint is not one that the author can do anything about. The fact that the iPhone mic is limited to 105 dB and that the measurements above 100 dB are therefore less reliable than those below 100 dB is frustrating. Perhaps Apple will address this limitation in a future version of the iPhone. As a suggestion, Id love to be able to select A weighting or C weighting for the measurement scales. Perhaps in a future version of the software...

The app works well, I compared reading to a sound meter and the app is damn close to right on to what my other sound meter was reading, the app does a great job for checking dB on dirt bikes when heading to trails with noise bylaws.

This app isnt bad but if the sound is louder than 100 db, there is a red light and there id No reading. I was expecting More from an app at that price. Do not but, The free Apps are just as good.

This app doesnt go beyond 103.3 db. Itll just show a red arrow indicating that its beyond 103.3.

Plenty db meter apps around, some cheaper & some more costly. Only this one gets my nod - email numerical results, plot graph, live referene listing for comparing, stylish classic or modern interface, easy to use, can be calibrated and a accurate within 5 db on my 3GS. Nice app! Kudos to maker.

I am a sound engineer, the only problem is that this program peaks at 103 db and does not give me an any idea of what is above the spectrum over 103, if your program shows 120 and tells you what kind of hearing damage can occur at ranges over 103, you might want to allow the program to go higher so that the users can get a good estimate of the sound spectrum over the 103 peak other than that, Its quite acurate, but there are times where I cant bring out a $1000 DB meter every time when i need a quick measure on the fly! Especially when I have County Zoning coming by for a suprize visit!! This program also falls into reasonable DB meter under most County ordinances as an acceptable device and suprizingly accurate!!1 Cudos to the designer but PLEASE ALLOW THE PEAK ABOVE 103!!!!

I jusr wish the program would allow preasure levels hisher than 105 DB. Ithe range does not allow it to happen even when I know it is highter.

It is only ok. It has a maximum level of 101.3 dB. at least that is the max it goes on my phone. If you know how to increase the maximum please let me know.
